Delivered in partnership with the TERU centre of the University of Glasgow, EDAS is running its popular Update on Policy and Practice in Economic Development course in Edinburgh on 22 November 2016.
The course is a knowledge update for people with a good basis in local economic development, giving key insight and understanding on the changing economic and policy circumstances. Topics cover the areas of: Challenges Facing Scotland's Economy and Future Scenarios; Emerging Economic Policy in Scotland and the UK; Scotland's Businesses and Sectors; and Scotland's People. The CPD points earned from the course are recognised by the Institute for Economic Development (IED).
A further aspect of the course is the chance to connect and discuss projects with fellow professionals working in different sectors.
The course has received regular praise from economic development professionals looking to further develop practical knowledge and tools to support their work. Robin Presswood, Head of Economy, Planning and Employability at Fife Council, stated:
"The [Update in Policy and Practice in Economic Development] course provides a useful overview and update of current national and regional economic policy, with fresh analysis on the latest trends in the Scottish economy. It has provided useful context for the economic policy, intelligence work and briefings that Fife Council's Economic Advisors carry out".
